During the raw materials and processing of food, some foreign substances may be mixed in, which can cause harm to consumers' bodies and even endanger their lives. The main methods for detecting foreign objects in food include X-ray detection, metal detection, visual inspection, electronic scanning, and other techniques. Metal detector is one of the common methods. The use of metal detectors is to improve product quality, maintain corporate image, and protect consumer interests.

Metal detector, as a typical instrument for controlling metal foreign objects, is a metal detection device on food packaging and material transmission lines. It can effectively identify metal hazardous substances mixed in food and materials and remove them through appropriate means.

The use of metal detectors during the storage stage of raw materials can detect metals mixed into the raw materials, prevent metal foreign objects mixed into the raw materials from damaging production equipment, and avoid affecting subsequent processes.

Debugging and usage methods

1. The circuit of the metal detector has no adjustment part except for the sensitivity adjustment potentiometer. As long as the welding is correct, the circuit can work normally. When the whole machine is in static state, that is, when the loudspeaker does not produce sound, the total current is about 10mA. When the metal loudspeaker detects sound, the current of the whole machine rises to 20mA. A new laminated battery can work for 20-30 hours.  

If the newly welded metal detector cannot work properly, first check whether there are errors in the soldering of each component and wiring on the circuit board, and then measure whether the battery voltage and power supply circuit are normal. The voltage regulator diode VD1 should maintain a stable voltage between 5.5-6.5V, and the polarity of VD2 should not be reversed. Do not weld the first stage and the front and rear ends of the oscillation coil inside the detection disc incorrectly.

Before using the metal detector, it is necessary to adjust the length of the detection rod. Simply loosen the black rubber tube, push and pull the rubber tube to the appropriate length, then rotate the rubber tube inside to tighten the cable and make the handle end face up. Tighten the black rubber tube and lock the rubber tube. In this way, when holding the handle of the detector, the thumb is right next to the sensitivity adjustment potentiometer.

4. When adjusting the sensitivity of the metal detector, the detection disc (oscillation coil) should be kept away from the metal, including paper with aluminum foil. Then, turn the sensitivity fine adjustment potentiometer knob to turn on the power switch and rotate it halfway. Adjust the coarse adjustment potentiometer knob to stop the audio sound of the speaker, and then fine adjust the potentiometer until the speaker sound just stops. At this point, the sensitivity of the metal detector is relatively high.

The production line using metal detectors must be designed to allow powdered or granular raw materials to flow through; When detecting liquid substances, a pipeline type metal detector should be selected and passed through a pressurized pipeline with a smaller diameter, the better.

The lower the temperature of the raw material during metal detector detection, the better, and complete freezing is even better.
